Elise Allen is a native of New Jersey and her love for painting
started when she met a remarkable artist named Evelyn Leavens. Leavens, a master in multiple mediums, introduced Elise to pastels, watercolor, pen & ink and pencil.
After receiving a degree in Fine Art from
Spring Hill College, Elise attended The Finishing School in Floral Park, New
York, where she learned the techniques of textured faux finishes, Venetian
plaster, gilding and stenciling.
Elise began her painting career in New York City where she
worked as a decorative painter specializing in textured finishes. She then became an assistant to
muralist Andrew Tedesco, painting interiors in New York City, New Jersey,
Connecticut and Long Island.
Now living in New Orleans with her husband and two children, Elise has returned to her passion for painting. She has created textural, multi-layered works of acrylic on
canvas and in
her newest collection she is working with Venetian plaster and acrylic on wood panels.
